Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program

This program forgives the remaining balance of all federal loans after the borrower has made a minimum of 120 qualifying monthly payments. So, after ten years of loan payments, you could get the rest of your student loans paid off.

The two admonitions are: Your loans can’t be delinquent, and you must be enrolled in a qualifying repayment program while working for a qualifying employer.

Lots of states provide loan forgiveness programs for teachers. Specifically if you teach in a high need area. The American Federation of Teachers has an excellent searchable database you can search to locate state and local forgiveness programs you might qualify for.
